Marshall amplifiers are the go-to tone choice for a variety of musical styles, including electric blues and every kind of rock music. Half-stacks (and whole stacks!) are of course the most iconic part of the Marshall stable, but sometimes you need Marshall tone and a stack is just too much. This 18w combo bridges that need perfectly.
This is a clone kit amplifier, but make no mistake – it sounds every bit like the circuit it’s cloning. The format is simple with two EL84-colored channels, one a volume-only, and one with Treble, Middle and Bass controls. The channels are bridgeable and that alone allows for a great deal of versatility in sound.
18 watts is not a lot of watts, but don’t be fooled; this amplifier can get loud and rowdy. Plus, it looks absolutely gorgeous nestled in it’s tooled-leather Weber cabinet. The speaker is a 60W Tone Tubby 12″ and it leaves plenty of headroom.
There are a few cracks in the transparent control plate, but those are 100 percent cosmetic and do not get in the way. The tube protectors have been removed because they rattle but are included, and the tubes have been wrapped with tubesaver rings. Also, the power transformer has been recently replaced, meaning this amp has lots of life in it.
