Washburn has consistently made instruments of quality ad a price that is easy on the checkbook and the Taurus line exemplifies that ideal very well. This T14 is made of basswod with a bubbly Warwick-esque cut and a transparent blue, ‘faux-quilted’ finish that calls forth the feeling that you’re playing a giant drop of water. The hardware and controls are a no-nonsense nickel affair, and the pickup configuration is pretty down-to-business as well – ‘P’ style pickup in the neck position, ‘J’ style in the bridge, and a V,T,T, control scheme.
The bolt-on neck for this instrument is large and comfortable in the way that many players believe a bass guitar’s should be. The fretboard is standard Rosewood sporting dot inlays, with the added bonus of a 2-octave range for each string. The whole outfit sounds like a rock-and-roll bass guitar and fits snugly within an included hardshell case.
